To put your face in a music video, pick a card on Tangy Limes, upload a photo, and press play. Your real face gets cut out, placed on a dancer, and its mouth opens and closes to the words of an original song, for about 40 seconds. The preview is free. Here's what actually happens between the photo and the dancing.
The photo becomes a cutout
Upload a photo, or take one with your phone's camera, and Tangy Limes finds the faces in it and cuts them out. It's a real cutout of your real face. Nothing is regenerated, smoothed, de-aged or "enhanced" by AI. If you have a tiny scar in your eyebrow, the music video has a tiny scar in its eyebrow. A tilted head gets straightened so it sits right on the dancer.
If the cutout clips your hair or grabs a slice of the couch, open Edit cutout and paint the missing bits back in or erase the extra.
The face goes on a dancer
Each card comes with dancers who are already dressed and choreographed for the occasion. Your face goes on top. Group photos work too: every face in the photo is found, and you tap to decide who goes where. That's how your brother becomes the lead singer of a boy band against his will. If a head looks too big or too small for its body, resize it.
The mouth moves to the song
This is the part that makes people yelp the first time. Every card has its own original song, and the face's mouth opens and closes along with the words. You'll be singing lyrics you've never heard with total confidence, which is more than most of us manage at karaoke. Turn on captions and the words show up on screen, so everyone can read what you're apparently saying.
What you end up with
About 40 seconds of video: an intro with the names, who it's to and who it's from, then four dance scenes. Cards come in 16:9 for laptops and TVs, and 9:16 for phones, Stories and Reels. You can watch it as many times as you want before paying anything.
Pick a genre
The music videos aren't all one style. Some of what's in there:
- Heavy metal: Shred Your Birthday, with an arena stage, pyro and a giant inflatable cake.
- Late-90s boy band: Holiday Boy Band, four faces, fake snow, lasers and matching outfits.
- Power ballad: Power Ballad of Love, an anniversary card that's cheesy on purpose and includes an Elvis impersonator.
- Disco: Birthday Disco Fever, from a light-up dance floor to a roller rink to a confetti shower.
- Decades tour: Still Crazy for You, from a 1950s sock hop to a 1980s aerobics studio.
- Polka: Birthday Polka, a Bavarian beer hall, an alpine meadow and, inexplicably, a 70s bowling alley.
Pets too
The pet cards, Pawty Animals, Furever Anniversary and Meowy Christmas, have room for two people and two pets. Dogs and cats in your photos get found as well and go on dancing animals. Your dog, lip-syncing. That's the whole pitch.
Then you keep it, or don't
If the preview makes you laugh, the MP4 download is $1.99, and there's no subscription or account behind it. Text it, make a share link that plays in the group chat, or email it to up to five people from the card page. For the click-by-click version, here's how to make one start to finish.
Otherwise you know the trick now. Find a photo where you're facing the camera, and go see what you look like as a polka star.
