To make a video card with your face, pick a card on Tangy Limes, upload a photo or take one with your phone, type the names, and press play. Your face shows up on a dancer, singing. The preview is free, and the MP4 download is $1.99.
The long answer is mostly about the photo, because the photo is doing all the acting.
1. Pick a card
Each card is a short music video: an intro with the names, four dance scenes, and an original song written for that occasion. The menu runs from a disco birthday and a rodeo birthday to a Christmas living room, a Paris anniversary and a breakup card for your ex. Check the tile for how many faces a card takes. Some want one, some want a family of four.
2. Add a photo
Upload a photo, or take one right there with your phone's camera. Tangy Limes finds the faces and cuts them out. Your real face stays your real face. Nothing gets redrawn or "improved" by AI, which is either reassuring or alarming depending on how your last haircut went.
Group photos work too. You get every face it finds, and you tap to choose who goes on which dancer. If you want your brother front and center, that's a decision you get to make, and live with.
For the photo itself:
- Face the camera. A tilted head is fine, it gets straightened, but looking down at your phone hides your chin, and the chin matters once the mouth starts moving.
- Smile with teeth if you can. The mouth opens and closes with the song, and a real smile gives it something to work with.
- Find light before you find a better camera. Facing a window helps a lot.
If the cutout clips an ear or grabs a piece of the couch, open Edit cutout and paint the missing bits back in or erase the extra.
3. Type the names
Add who it's to and who it's from. Those names show up in the intro and again on the last frame. The big headline is editable too, for occasions where "Happy Birthday" undersells it, like a 50th, or a promotion nobody saw coming.
4. Watch it
Press play. Your faces are on the dancers, with mouths moving to the words of the song. Seeing your own face sing a song you've never heard is a lot, the first time. Wear headphones if you're on a train. From here you can shrink the heads, nudge one into place, add bouncing captions, or switch to a 9:16 version for phones and Stories.
5. Keep it and send it
When you're happy with it, download the MP4. You pay once for that card, with no account, and nothing renews. Then send it however your people get things: text the MP4, drop a share link in the group chat, or email it to up to five people from the card page. For Instagram, TikTok or Stories, grab the 9:16 version so it fills the screen.
Start with whoever's birthday is next. You already have a photo of them on your phone, and they have no idea what's coming.
