Good fantasy football trash talk is short, specific and a little unfair. A few lines that work on just about any last-place manager:
- NICE BYE WEEK START
- YOUR KICKER CAN'T SAVE YOU
- THANKS FOR THE ENTRY FEE
- PUNISHMENT: THIS VIDEO
- SEE YOU IN THE TOILET BOWL
In the group chat, a line like that scrolls away by lunch. As the headline of a Tangy Limes trash-talk card, it sits on top of a music video where his real face, cut out of a photo, sings an original song with its mouth moving to the words. You need one photo of him, one card and one headline. The preview is free, so you can see the whole thing before deciding he deserves it.
You know the guy. He renamed his team after a pun in week two and has been explaining it ever since. He traded his best player for two backups and called it value. He still posts weekly power rankings and puts himself fourth. Another meme won't reach him. His own face, lip-syncing in a waffle house booth, might.
Ground rules. Be specific: "you're bad" is weak, "you benched your best receiver for a kicker" is a eulogy. Send it right after the final score, not on Tuesday when everyone has moved on. And aim at last place. The guy in eleventh gets a pass this week.
The champ and the chump
Fantasy League Champ is for you, and it does not do humble. It starts at a draft party in somebody's basement, big draft board, pizza boxes everywhere, which is where you made the picks that won it. Somewhere in there is an office cubicle buried in spreadsheets, which is accurate, and a living room with a giant trophy on the coffee table. Your face is on the dancer the whole way.
Last Place Loser is for him. It opens in a sad, empty bowling alley and gets worse from there, through a waffle house booth late at night and a park where people point and laugh. It's a last-place punishment with no tattoo and no sandwich board involved. Put his face on it, not yours. Or put both of you in, since these cards work with one face or two, and you get to stand next to him while he suffers.
Rivalry week, and the people who take it badly
For game day there's Your Team Lost: a rainy, empty stadium, a tailgate, and a couch covered in snacks, which is how most of us take a loss anyway. My Team Beat Yours has cheering stands, a stadium parking lot and a parade banner, for the coworker who wore the other team's jersey to the office on Friday. I Won brings a podium with confetti cannons and a parade float, and it doesn't ask what you won. League title, office pool, chili cook-off. It counts.
Then there are the sore losers. Cope About It puts you on a yacht and in a spa while they stew, which is the correct way to receive a complaint. Go Cry to Mommy sends them to a pastel nursery with a playground sandbox and a giant teddy bear, and we feel it speaks for itself.
Sending it
Every card lets you rewrite the big headline, so any line from the top of this page will fit, or write your own. Grab a photo of him from the group chat. The less flattering, the better. Make a share link so the whole league can watch without anyone downloading anything, and drop it in the chat while it still stings.
Keeping it is $1.99, with no account to set up. Then go refresh the league chat and wait.
